WebYears ago, my local Mercury dealer, who also sells Yamaha, told me never to buy a carbureted 4-stroke. Note also, that except for the carbureted Mercury/Yamaha Joint Venture 50 HP engine of 1994-2002, Mercury has never built a 4-stroke engine of it's own design under 25HP with carbs. These are all the same engine and all you need is a new carb which costs £350 (ouch) I was wondering if any of you have done this and if you felt/feel it is worth the dose mine is a 15 hp mariner 4s.
